The Code of Ethics for Nurses directs nurses to advance the profession through active involvement in nursing and health care policy, and to participate in Social Reform through political action. MNA’s Governmental Affairs program is a proven leader in policy development and influence.

MNA has achieved a reputation of respect at the Capitol.

The standard was set when Minnesota Nurses Association members ushered through Minnesota’s first Nurse Practice Act. Members have since campaigned effectively for important statutes regarding safe needles, prescribing authority for Nurse Practitioners, mandatory overtime prevention, and MinnesotaCare.
