Continuing Education Provider Unit
The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) is one of the leading organizations for registered nurses in the Midwest with more than 19,000 members established in 1905.
MNA is a multi-purpose organization that fosters high standards for nursing education and practice and works to advance the profession through collective bargaining and legislative activity. The organization has been providing continuing nursing education opportunities as an accredited provider of American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) since 1980.
Continuing nursing education at MNA operates within the MNA Continuing Education Provider Unit. The leadership of the MNA Continuing Education Provider Unit is comprised of an MNA staff nurse administrator and several nurse planners who are MNA members. Currently, the practice of continuing nursing education includes didactic/interactive seminars and training sessions with a few independent study programs.
Future plans for continuing nursing education within the MNA Continuing Education Provider Unit involves advancing the use of technology to include nurses from outside the metropolitan area and nurses of all ages with various ranges of computer skills. The healthcare environment in which the MNA Continuing Education Provider Unit operates serves 185 contract practice settings ranging from acute care, community and long-term care facilities throughout the state of Minnesota.
